BOLIVAR, Mo. - Augustana baseball opened their four-game series with Truman State on Tuesday, earning a split of the doubleheader. The Vikings took game one 10-2 but fell in the second game of the day 5-1. The game was played in Bolivar, Mo. on the campus of Southwest Baptist.
Game One
Augustana jumped on Truman State early in the contest. The Vikings five-run first inning was sparked by
Patrick O'Donnell who doubled to drive in
Tyler Field who had singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch.
Carter Wevik drove in O'Donnell with a single and advanced
Kris Ashland to second. Ashland scored a batter later when
Lucas Barry singled.
Sam Baier drove in the final two runs of the inning with single to give Augustana an early 5-0 lead.
Truman State got a couple runs back in the second. The Bulldogs first run of the game came on a single from Nick Agliolo. The Bulldogs final run of the game came later in the inning on a sac fly from Jon Lyons.
The Vikings added a few insurance runs in the second inning. Field drove in
Riley Johnson for the first run of the inning. Field was driven in two batters later by
Trent Herman who picked up a two-RBI single. Wevik earned a sac fly that drove in Ashland. The Vikings final run of game one came when
Jacob James drove in Herman.

Game Two
Like game one, the Vikings scored first against the Bulldogs. Augustana put the first run on the board in the third inning when O'Donnell singled to drive in Barry who walked earlier in the inning.
Truman State tied the game and took the lead in the fourth. The Bulldogs tied it a one on an Agliolo fielder's choice. Truman then took a 2-1 lead on a josh Abegg single. The Bulldogs final run of the inning came on a bases-loaded walk to make it 3-1 Truman State. Truman state added a run in the seventh and the eighth to take the game 5-1.
