SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Augustana baseball earned a midweek series split with Upper Iowa at home. The Vikings dropped game one 5-4 in extra innings and won game two 10-9 on a walk-off single from
Patrick O'Donnell. The split brings the Vikings overall record to 14-11 and their conference record to 8-2.
Game One
Augustana fell behind by a run in the first inning but tied the game in the bottom of the second when
Kris Ashland hit his first home run of the game, fifth in the last five games.
After falling behind 2-1 in the fourth on a Peacock home run, it was again Ashland getting it done at the plate. Ashland hit his second home run of the game, sixth in the last five, with a
Patrick O'Donnell on base to give the Vikings a 3-2 advantage.
In the fifth innin, Upper Iowa took a 4-3 lead after a double and single drove in two runs. The Vikings tied the game in the sixth on an Ashland sac fly to right field that drove in
Carter Wevik.
The game went into extra innings after neither team scored in the seventh. In the top of the eighth Upper Iowa scored on a single up the middle giving them 5-4 lead. Augustana was unable to score in the bottom of the inning and fell 5-4 in game one.

Game Two
Game two was a high scoring affair from the start. Augustana jumped on Upper Iowa early in the first inning when O'Donnell doubled down the left field line to score
Riley Johnson and Wevik. After Ashland walked, Dahlke picked up a double that drove in O'Donnell to make it 3-0 Vikings. The next batter was
Zach Reeg making just his second at-bat of the season. On the first pitch, he saw Reeg blasted a home run to left center giving Augustana a 6-0 lead after the first.
After Upper Iowa failed to score in the top of the second the Vikings added a run in the bottom of the inning on a Reeg double to left scoring Wevik and making it 7-0.
Upper Iowa got three runs back in the third to cut into Augustana's lead but in the fifth Reeg hit his second home run of the game to make it 8-3 Vikings. Later in the inning, Johnson scored
Sam Baier on a single to make it 9-3.
Upper Iowa had a huge sixth inning, exploding for five runs to make their deficit just one. In the seventh, they tied it a nine all with a double to right center.
In the bottom of the seventh with two runners on, O'Donnell won the game for the Vikings on a walk single to left field that scored
Jacob James to make it 10-9 Augustana.
