ORANGE CITY, Iowa – The Augustana track and field team got the weekend underway with 15 top-10 finishes at the Red Raider Open in Orange City, Iowa on Wednesday and Thursday.
On Wednesday,
Matt Pohlmann and
Brody Jorenson went 1-2 in the pole vault. Pohlmann recorded an outdoor personal best of 13-01.5 and Jorenson recorded a mark of 12-07.5.
On Thursday, the Vikings ended the Red Raider Open with 13 more top-10 finishes.
In jumps,
Christine Campbell led the way for Augustana with a second place finish in the high jump with a leap of 5-00.25. In the men's high jump,
Eli Anderson set a personal best with a jump of 5-10.5, which was good for sixth. In the long jump,
Sarah Westerman recorded a second place finish with a personal best mark of 16-09.75.
In the 400-meter hurdles,
Taylor Koch finished in third and
Ashley Solano took seventh as they both set personal best times. On the men's side,
Dylon Van't Hof finish in 10th. Van't Hof also took third in the 110-meter hurdles and
Evan Ward finished in fifth.
Trey Heid recorded a pair of top-10 finishes in sprinting events. In the 100-meters, Heid recorded a fifth place finish in the finals and had a personal best time of 11.31 in the preliminaries. In the 200-meters, Heid took ninth with a personal high time of 23.15.
In mid-distance events,
Austin Miller took eighth in the 800-meters with a personal record time of 2:00.75. In the 1,500-meters
Alex Tietz raced to a ninth place finish with a time of 4:14.18, good for a personal record.
In the heptathlon,
Melissa Barella took fourth with a mark of 3,411 points.
Montez Brown Finishes in 16th in the Heptathlon in California
TORRANCE, Calif. - Olivia Montez Brown competed in the heptathlon at the Mt. Sac Relays in Torrace, Calif. on Wednesday and Thursday. Montez Brown finished 16th out of 45 competitors and third out of the Division II competition with a provisional mark of 4,937 points.
Montez Brown finished eighth in the long jump in the heptathlon with a mark of 18-03.25. Montez Brown also finished 15th in the 100-meter hurdles, 17th in the high jump, 32nd in the shot put, 27th in the 200-meters, 16th in the javelin and 15th in the 800-meters.

The Vikings return to action on Friday, April 14 and Saturday, April 15 for the Jim Duncan Invite hosted by Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. The Jim Duncan Invite will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Friday and will start at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday.
