SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Augustana baseball (33-16, 27-7 NSIC) picked up two big wins on Friday at Karras Park. The Vikings were the road team on the scoreboard after weather moved the game from Wayne, Nebraska to Sioux Falls but it was clear the Vikings used their home field to their advantage picking up a 19-3 win in game one and an 18-6 win in game two.
Game One
After not having an extra-base hit in either game against USF on Thursday, the Vikings got a double from
Patrick O'Donnell in the first inning that also scored
Riley Johnson. The extra bases hits continued in the inning with
Lucas Barry earning a RBI double and
Trent Herman hit a 3-run home run to give the Vikings a 6-0 lead after one.
Augustana scored two more in the third to go up 8-0 before Wayne State scored three in the bottom of the third to make it 8-3 Vikings. The Wildcats three runs but would be the only time the Wildcats would get on the scoreboard in game one.
The Vikings picked up runs in each of the next three innings. They scored three in the fourth and five in the fifth that included a 3-run home run from
Tyler Field that made it 15-3. After scoring three in the sixth the Vikings led 19-3 and walked away with a big game one win.

Game Two
The second game of the doubleheader started well for the Vikings with two quick runs in the first but Wayne State countered with a five-run bottom of the first and then added another in the second to lead 6-2 early in the contest. In the third, the Vikings cut the deficit to three when Barry's fielder choice drove in O'Donnell.
Momentum swung in the fifth though when
Kris Ashland launched a pitch to center field for a 3-run home run that tied the game at six. Ashland's home run was his 16th of the season which is a program record for home runs in a season.
The Vikings took the lead in the sixth on an O'Donnell triple that scored Baier making it 7-6 Vikings. They added to their lead in the sixth with doubles from Ashland and Barry that each scored one run.
Augustana broke the game open with a three-run seventh inning. In the either Barry homered to right to make it 13-6. And in the ninth, they scored five runs to win the game by a score of 18-6.
