NORFOLK, Va. - The Augustana swimming team and freshman
Emma Miller earned College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America awards, the CSCAA announced on Wednesday.

Miller, a native of Papillion, Neb., was named a honorable mention CSCAA Scholar All-American after a stellar freshman season for the Vikings. Miller was named the NSIC Freshman of the Year after taking first in the 1,000 and 1,650-year freestyles at the conference meet.

To be selected a student-athlete had to achieve a grade point average of 3.50 or high and have participated in their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. The CSCAA selected a record 997 swimmers and divers for its Scholar All-America team.

The Augustana swim team was also honored as a Scholar All-America team. The Vikings posted a combined 3.13 grade point average during the Spring semester.

To be selected a team had to achieve a combined grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the Spring 2017 semester. In total the CSCAA honored 720 teams, representing 443 institutions as Scholar All-America teams. Â

Located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Augustana University is a member of NCAA Division II and competes in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
