BURNSVILLE, Minn. --  Following a strong performance at the Lewis Crossover race, Augustana sophomore Nicolette Schmidt is the NSIC Cross Country Athlete of the Week.

Stepping on the course against six top-25 programs and more than 400 student-athletes, Schmidt finished 10th with a time of 23:04.01. The Redfield, South Dakota, native secured the top finish for the Viking women and helped lead the team to a second-place overall finish. 

A first-team all-NSIC performer from 2018, Schmidt has finished 17th (Twilight) and 11th (Griak) this season.

This is Schmidt's second Athlete of the Week honor, having previously earned the award for a fifth-place finish at the Tori Neubauer Invitational on Oct. 16th, 2018.

Schmidt and the Vikings now turn their attention to the NSIC Championships, which will run on Saturday, Oct. 26 in Wayne, Nebraska.
