Augustana Women's Basketball Takes on Two North Division Teams at Home This Weekend

The Vikings will honor the three seniors at Saturdays game

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Coming off a weekend road trip to North Dakota, the Augustana women's basketball team returns to the Sioux Falls arena for a pair of games this weekend. With six games left in the regular season, Augustana (19-6, 11-5 NSIC South) remains tied for first place in the NSIC South Division.

On Friday at 5:30 the Vikings will take on the Bulldogs from the University of Minnesota Duluth. The Bulldogs currently sit second in the north division with a 14-5 (13-3 NSIC) record and head into Sioux Falls riding a four-game win streak. On Saturday at 3:30, the Vikings return to action against the St. Cloud State Huskies. The Huskies sit fourth in the North division with a 12-8 (9-7 NSIC) record.

Fans attending this weekend's games can expect a number of special events awaiting at the arena. Starting on Friday, the annual 'baby races' will take place at halftime of the women's basketball game, followed by the performance of the Alexandria Aces at halftime of the men's game. On Saturday, the first 500 fans will receive a Viking cell phone wallet.

Also this weekend, the annual "It's A Slam Dunk, Don't Drive Drunk" NSIC campaign will be promoted by the Augustana Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Most recently, the Vikings are coming off of a split on the road. On Friday, coach Krauth and the Vikings cruised by the Beavers of Minot State, 61-58. On Saturday the Vikings fell to U-Mary, 68-62. In Saturday's NSIC matchup, senior Lynsey Prosser surpassed the 1,000 point mark.

The Vikings come into this weekend standing first in the NSIC in numerous categories. The Vikings dish out 15.7 assists per game, grab 10.9 steals and grab 42.4 rebounds per game. Their 1060 total rebounds remain first in all DII women's basketball.

Leading the Vikings on offense is Prosser as she's dropping 12.2 ppg. Vishe' Rabb (11.7) and Abby Hora (11.3) are also both averaging double-digits for Augustana. On the glass, Camryn Hay leads the team by grabbing 5.5 per game.

Scouting Augustana:
• Augustana is 19-6 overall (11-5 NSIC) and is averaging 76.8 ppg.
• The Vikings are outscoring their opponents by 14.8 points per game midway through the season, which is 2nd in the conference.
• Augustana is holding their opponents at just under 62 ppg.
• Augustana is shooting 42.7% from the field as a team, which sits the Vikings in 2nd in the NSIC.
• Augustana is averaging 42.4 rebounds per game, which is 1st in the conference, and 1st in the nation with 1060 total boards.
• The Vikings dish out 15.7 assists per game, which is 1st in the NSIC, and sits them 5th in the nation with 392 total assists.
• Augustana is grabbing 10.9 steals per game midway through the season, which places them 7th in the nation with 251 total steals.

Scouting Minnesota Duluth:
• The Bulldogs are led by fourth-year head coach Mandy Pearson.
• UMD comes into this conference matchup with a 14-5 (13-3 NSIC) record.
• Overall, they are shooting 40.4% as a team from the field (508-1171).
• The Bulldogs are averaging 63.7 points per game through 19 games.
• Minnesota Duluth is led by Sammy Kozlowski. The point guard is averaging 12 ppg midway through the season.

Scouting St. Cloud State:
• The Huskies are led by 11th-year head coach Lori Fish.
• SCSU comes into this NSIC matchup 12-8 (9-7 NSIC), with their most recent loss coming from Winona State last weekend.
• Overall, they are shooting 40.7% as a team from the field (452-1111).
• The Huskies are averaging 66.1 ppg while holding opponents to 58.4 points per contest.
• SCSU is led by Tori Wortz. Wortz is averaging 12.8 ppg.
