Alama is a native of Watertown, S.D. where she attended Watertown High School. She is the second South Dakota signee in recent weeks for the Vikings.  For the Arrows, she was a four-year letter winner on the varsity swim team.

Alama plans to major in Biology/Psychology with a minor in Spanish. After college, Alama wants to be in the medical research field while also staying close to the pool as a swim coach.
