Vikings Release 2019 Cross Country Schedule

The Augustana Twilight on Sept. 6 highlights the 2019 season

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Augustana cross country and track and field head coach Tracy Hellman announced on Monday the Vikings 2019 men's and women's cross country schedule, which includes the annual Augustana Twilight that kicks off the season. 

The Augustana Twilight is set for Friday, Sept. 6 at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls, S.D. The meet consists of high school and college teams. The meet with start with the high school JV girls 4k at 6 p.m. with the high school Boys 5k at 8 p.m. to conclude the high school portion of the Augustana Twilight. 

The college portion will begin at 8:30 p.m. with the women's 5K and will end with the men's 4-mile race shortly after the conclusion of the women's race around 9 p.m. Last year's meet drew over 2,000 high school and collegiate student-athletes competing from all around the region. The Vikings placed fourth overall on both the men and women's side in last year's race. More information about the Augustana Twilight Meet can be found here. 

After competing in the competitive Augustana Twilight Meet the Vikings will travel to Minnesota to compete in a very talented field at the Roy Griak Invite on September 28. After a week off Augustana will then travel to Romeoville, Ill. to compete in the Lewis Cross-Over Invite on October 12 to close out the regular season. 

The Vikings first championship opportunity of the cross country slate will come in Wayne, Neb. when they will compete for conference titles on Saturday, October 26 in the 2019 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships. 

The NCAA Regionals will take place in Joplin, Mo. on Saturday, November 9th. Augustana will look to finish as one of the top-three teams to secure an automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Championship finals or hope that they have built a strong resume over the season receive one of the 10 at-large bids selected by the NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Cross Country Committee. The 2019 NCAA Championships will be on Saturday, November 23 in Sacramento, Calif.
