As the 2019 soccer season approaches, GoAugie.com spoke with five Vikings who spent their summers with internships and the WPSL around the area. This five-part series will run once a week for four weeks leading up to the team's report date of Sunday, August 18th.

Senior Peyton Stenzel had a busy junior campaign on the soccer pitch last Fall. The senior midfielder logged 1,178 minutes on the field while tallying 38 shots (26 of which were on goal) and three assists. Her efforts on the soccer field earned her an honorable mention on the All-NSIC (Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) Team. In addition, her efforts in the classroom also earned her Academic All-NSIC honors. And while she works hard in the classroom and on the field, Peyton has also been keeping busy with her summer internship. Take a look at what the senior midfielder said when we caught up with her.   

What type of internship do you have this summer?
This summer I am a nurse intern at Sanford in the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit).
 
What are some of the challenges with this internship?
The biggest challenge I have with my internship is figuring out my sleeping schedule. I mainly work night shifts which means I had to learn how to sleep during the day. My sleep schedule is currently all over the place. But I really enjoy the people I work with at night and the calm atmosphere so it makes it worth it.
 
What do you do for fun in your spare time this summer?
Other than sleeping, I like to go to the lake or go for hikes in my free time this summer. I've even had some time to read a few books.
 
What are you most excited about for this Fall season?
Since this year is my senior year I am really excited for one last opportunity to leave it all on the field (But I am mostly excited for the drinks and snacks).
