SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Augustana swimming team opened up its season falling to USF 148-56 on Friday night inside the Midco Aquatic Center.Â
In the individual races Augustana had eight top-three finishes.
The meet started with Augustana's 200-yard medley relay 'A' team, consisting of sophomore Justine Stellmaker, junior Isabel Waite, senior Merriam Hagadorn and junior Rebecca Schimdt, placed third with a time of 1:52.48.
Starting the individual races, senior Taylor Beagle was able to take the victory in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:34.78. Â
Junior Kamyrn Robarge and Sophomore Ruth Huffman claimed second and third in the 200-yard freestyle with times of 1:59.52 and 2:01.80 respectively. Huffman then doubled back in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.52
Beagle returned to win the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:13.89, junior Hannah Oeltjen claimed the third spot in a time of 5:31.46
Rounding out the meet was the 400-yard medley where Augustana's A relay of Nicholle Miller, Hannah Oeltjen, junior Rebecca Schmidt, and Ruth Huffman took first in a time of 3:41.39

Augustana returns to action Saturday in a double dual against Northern State and UMary. The dual against Northern State is slated for noon with UMary at 4:15 p.m.
