SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Augustana women's basketball team opens the 2021-22 season Monday and Thursday inside the Elmen Center. The Vikings' first tilt of the season is against Peru State on Monday and Minnesota Morris on Thursday. Both games are slated for 7 p.m.

The Vikings
Augustana opens the 2021-22 season after a 12-5 record and an NSIC South Division Championship in the shortened 2021 season. Aislinn Duffy and Lauren Sees each earned All-NSIC South Division honors by being named to the second team. Duffy averaged 14.2 points and 6.7 rebounds per game while Sees averaged 13.7 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.
This season, the Vikings were tabbed the NSIC South Division Preseason favorite. Along with Duffy and Sees, Jennifer Aadland is the third returner from last year's starting five. Aadland averaged 5.6 points and 4.8 rebounds during her freshman campaign.
Scouting the Bobcats
Peru State, picked 12th in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Preseason Poll, is 5-4 on the season and have won their last two games. Earlier this week, the Bobcats went 2-1 falling to the College of Saint Mary (59-54) on Monday and garnering wins against York College (83-83) on Wednesday and Mcpherson College (77-70) on Saturday. Peru State will be playing Monday's game as an exhibition.
The Bobcats are led by Maddy Duncan, averaging 12.4 points per game, while Lucy Peevy is garnering nine rebounds per game.
The Scouting Cougars
Minnesota Morris, picked fourth in the UMAC Preseason Poll, is 1-2 on the season, most recently dropping contests against the College of Saint Benedict on Friday (64-57) and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Saturday (82-31).
The Cougars are led by Justine Day averaging 10 points and nine rebounds per game.
One Last Thing
Although the Elmen Center has not been the official home floor for Augustana for some time, the women's basketball program holds a 25-3 record inside the facility dating back to the 2014-15 season.
