WEST FARGO, N.D. -- The Augustana swimming team completed the third day of the NSIC Championships on Friday in West Fargo, North Dakota. Senior Taylor Beagle placed third in the 500-free in a time of 4:59.76 which also hit the 'B' qualifying standard and just narrowly missed the school record.Â
Junior Hannah Oeltjen also scored points for Augustana in the 500-free placing ninth in a time of 5:12.65
Minnesota State holds down the lead with 706 points, St. Cloud State sits in second place with 591.5 points. Sioux Falls is in third place with 556.5 points while UMary is in fourth place with 366.5 points. Augustana is in fifth place with 263.5 points.Â
The Vikings had three point scorers in the 100-breast with senior Micah Hudlet leading the way, placing 10th in a time 1:07.49. Junior Alysse Grohs and sophomore Maddy Olson placed 14th and 16th with times of 1:08.02 and 1:09.27, respectively.
Augustana also had three point scorers in the 200-fly with sophomore Ruth Huffman placing sixth, touching the wall at 2:11.41. The senior duo in Kelsey Gilbert and Abigail Magee placed 11th and 12th in times of 2:15.77 and 2:17.43, respectively.Â
Rounding out the evening was the 800-free relay where the Vikings placed fifth in a time of 7:47.73 with the team composed of Beagle, Huffman, Oeltjen, and junior Kamryn Robarge.Â
The Vikings return for the final day of the NSIC Championships with the morning session consisting of the 100 IM, 100-free, 200-back, 200-breast and 1650-free at 10 a.m. The finals start at 5:30 p.m. All action can be seen at GoAugie.com/Live.Â
