BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- Augustana athletics tallied a league-high 87 athletes on the NSIC Winter All-Academic Team the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference announced Thursday. Fifty-seven of those student-athletes earned the distinction of NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence.

"Our student-athletes continue to excel in all that they do," Augustana Director of Athletics Josh Morton said. "Leading the NSIC in all-academic honors is not something we take for granted in the athletics department. It shows that our student-athletes put in just as much effort in the classroom as they do in competition. To continue to pursue excellence through the challenge of this year is remarkable and we are incredibly proud of all of them."

The Vikings also led the NSIC with 79 student-athletes on the Fall All-Academic Team, bringing the total for the 2020-21 academic year to 166 student-athletes. 

To be eligible for the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence, a student-athlete must have a 3.60 cumulative GPA or higher, while NSIC All-Academic Team members must have a 3.20 cumulative GPA or higher. 

Additionally, the student-athlete must be a member of the varsity traveling team, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at her/his institution (true freshmen, red-shirt freshmen and ineligible athletic transfers are not eligible) and must have completed at least one full academic year at that institution.
