Augustana Swimming & Diving Sees Fast Times at Coyote Invitational

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana women's swimming & diving team had four student-athletes compete at the Coyote Invitational hosted by South Dakota in the Midco Aquatics Center Friday and Saturday.
 
The Vikings came away with three podium finishes and strong times overall in preparation for the NSIC Championships set for Feb. 9-12.
 
Angelina Chan swam three events, claiming third place in the 100 Fly and the 100 breaststroke while placing fourth in the 100 IM. Her time of 58.77 in the fly is the third fastest for a Viking in 2021-22. For her third-place finish in the breaststroke, she touched the wall in 1:06.20 and was the second-fastest swim in the event for AU this season.
 
Chan saved her best swim for last as she swam the 100 IM in 1:00.36, the fastest for Augustana this year and just shy of the school record which is just under 60 seconds.
 
Nathalia Silva placed second in the 200 Free in a time of 156.53. In the same event, Libby Breckon touched the wall in 1:57.80 to place sixth.
 
Silva doubled back in the 100 backstroke, swimming in a time of 58.81, the second-fastest time for Augustana this year. She placed eighth in the event full of Division I swimmers.
 
The final swimmer for Augustana was Nesrine Jelliti in the 400 IM. She placed fifth in the event in a time of 4:47.76.
 
Augustana is back in the same pool, the Midco Aquatics Center, for the NSIC Championships slated to begin on Wednesday, Feb. 9 and conclude Saturday, Feb. 12.
