Viking Women’s Basketball Set for Northern State on Saturday

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana women's basketball team is set to host Northern State on Saturday inside the Sanford Pentagon at 5:30 p.m. 

Due to COVID-19 protocols within the MSU Moorhead women's basketball program, Friday's contest against MSU Moorhead has been canceled. The game is classified as a 'no-contest', per NCAA and NSIC procedures. The men's game is on as scheduled.

About the Wolves

Northern State holds a record of 6-7 overall and 3-5 within the NSIC, all against North Division foes. The Wolves are currently on a four-game losing streak, most recently falling to MSU Moorhead, 67-50. 

NSU has three players averaging double-figure scoring being led by Kailee Oliverson having 14.3 points per outing. 

Laurie Rodgers leads Northern State in rebounds per game averaging 7.1 per contest.

About the Vikings

Augustana holds a conference record of 3-5 in the NSIC while having a 7-5 record overall. The Vikings are on a four game win-streak, with three of the wins being against conference foes.

Most recently, Augustana bested Wayne State inside the Sanford Pentagon, 74-63. In the win, the Vikings shot 51.8 percent from the floor and had 19 second chance points. 

Lauren Sees scored 24 points, shooting 10-of-17 from the field, to go along with her six assists and four rebounds.

Her performance, paired with the win against nonconference opponent Dakota Wesleyan before the holiday break, granted her NSIC South Division Player of the Week honors. The weekly award was the first of her career.

Vishe' Rabb scored 19 points to go with nine rebounds and four assists in the win against Wayne State. Aislinn Duffy rounded out the double-figure scoring for the Vikings having 13 points shooting five-of-seven from the field to go with her seven rebounds.

The Vikings are led by Sees with 16.8 points per outing and Duffy garnering 11.9 rebounds per contest.

One Last Thing

The Vikings rank second in the NSIC in scoring offense, averaging 73.8 points per outing with Sees leading the way accounting for 16.8 points per game.
