Augustana Races Past NSIC Competition

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The No. 8 Augustana women's swimming and diving team topped all teams in the Sioux Falls quad-invite this weekend. The Vikings competed against MSU Moorhead, USF, and Northern State where they totalled 16 event wins and added a total of 1,096 points. As a team, the Vikings went 6-0 as each school raced as a dual meet against one another.

During the first day of the invite, the Vikings topped all teams starting with a 206-49 win over Northern State, a 169-86 win over USF, and a 218-35 win over MSU Moorhead. The success for Augustana continued into the second day with three wins. The Vikings had a 176-42 win over Northern State, a 189-26 win over MSU Moorhead, and a 138-80 win against USF.

"I'm really proud of our women's team," said head coach Lindsie Micko. "I thought we fought hard throughout the two days. It's always nice to come away with team wins against conference teams."

Bryn Greenwaldt, a freshman, led the way for the Vikings in both the 50 free and 100 free finishing both with NCAA B-cut times. Greenwaldt grasped the top 50 free time in the country this weekend swimming in a time of 23.03 during the first day of the meet. Greenwaldt was also the lead off for the 400 free relay with her 100 free swimming in a time of 40.85. 

Recent NSIC Swimmer of the Week, Ella Ward-Zeller, won the 100 back with a finals time of 57.59 during the first day of the invite. Ward-Zeller continued her success in the 200 back, also finishing first with a time of 2:05.26 during the second day of competition. 

Freshman Maija Kangas won the 500 free for the Vikings this weekend swimming in a final time of 5:14.02 receiving 9 points for Augustana. Kangas also saw success in her 800 free relay where the group finished in a time of 7:55:53. The group of Kangas, Amaya Street, Kamryn Robarge, and Meesha Montgomery finished first in the relay with over six seconds to spare before the relay's runner up. 

Meesha Montgomery, a sophomore, won the 200 free with a finishing time of 1:55.58 during the first day of the invite. Montgomery also saw quality wins in the 100 free during the first day of the invite with a second place finish in a time of 53.20. Montgomery was at teammate Kamryn Robarge's heels where Robarge finished first in a time of 53:06. 

The Augustana divers were led by freshman Clare Duplissis in the 1 meter with a finals score of 224.17 during the first day of competition. Sophomore Kate Robbins led the way from there across all categories. Robbins finished first in the 3 meter dive both days with a final score of 198.69 during the first day and a score of 205.66 on the second day.
