MITCHELL, S.D.--Augustana wrestling competed at the DWU Open on Saturday. The tournament, hosted by Dakota Wesleyan, included over 250 wrestlers and 17 teams. 

Miles Fitzgerald placed fourth at 157 pounds. Fitzgerald had a bye in the first round before defeating Dayton Fraser of York (Neb.) by way of a 20-3 technical fall. In his second match of the day, Fitzgerald earned a 6-1 decision victory over Fort Hays State's Clint Herrick. He faced Teontae Wilson from Nebraska-Kearney, defeating Wilson in a 6-1 decision win to push into the semifinal match. Fitzgerald found his way to the consolation bracket after falling in the semifinal round to an opponent from St. Cloud State.

Fitzgerald didn't wrestle his final match because of a match count rule that you can only wrestle six matches in a day, finishing the DWU Open in fourth place.

At 174 pounds, Jacob Tvinnereim placed third at the tournament. Tvinnereim captured a 13-4 major decision win over Elijah Sterner (Southwest Minnesota State) in the first round. He sailed to victory over opponents from Morningside College and Fort Hays State, making his way to the semifinal match. Tvinnereim was defeated by a Northern State opponent to find a spot in the consolation bracket. Winning his final two matches, Tvinnereim finished on the podium.  

Kolby Kost finished fourth at the DWU Open, competing in the 184 pound bracket. Kost fell to Caden Steffen of Southwest Minnesota State in his first match, but won his next five matches in the consolation bracket. Kost defeated St. Thomas University's Shemar Barthelus in his second match by a fall at 2:54. In his next match, Kost won by fall over Maxwell Whitney of Ridgewater College. Kost's next two matches were decision victories over opponents from Northwestern (Iowa) and St. Cloud State. In his sixth and final match of the day, Kost won by fall over Tate Kuchera of Nebraska-Kearney at 4:34. A match count rule ended Kost's time at the tournament. 

Danny Reynolds was defeated in his first match, battling through the backside of the bracket to place sixth at 184 pounds. Reynolds captured wins over opponents from Morningside and Northern State.

Zach Peterson competed at 197 pounds for Augustana, finishing the tournament in fifth place. Peterson won his first three matches over opponents from St. Thomas University, Dakota Wesleyan and Nebraska-Kearney. In his fourth match, Peterson fell in a match that went to  sudden victory. Peterson won by no contest over Jud Kuchera (Nebraska-Kearney) in his final match of the day.
