Viking Women’s Hoops Set for Three-Game Homestand

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana women's basketball team returns home this weekend to host Upper Iowa, Winona State and Mount Marty in the Sanford Pentagon. Saturday's contest against Upper Iowa is slated for a 3:30 p.m. start while Sunday's tip-off with Winona State is set for 1:30 p.m.. Monday night's game will be at 7:00 p.m.

Scouting the Peacocks
Upper Iowa is currently 4-6 on the season with an 0-5 record in NSIC play. The Peacocks most recent win was against William Jewell College back in mid-November that ended in a 69-58 victory.

The Peacocks' offense is led by Lydia Haack who is averaging 17.8 points per contest. Haack also leads the squad in steals averaging 2.2 a game and assists with 4.1 a game. Leading the UIU defense is Helen Staley with 5.9 rebounds a contest. Staley saw a season-high 11 rebounds against Southern Arkansas and Rockhurst this season. 

Scouting the Warriors
Winona State is currently 8-3 on the season while sitting 2-3 in the NSIC. This past weekend, the Warriors took a loss to SMSU, 66-59, and a win against USF, 76-61. 

The Warriors are led by Alex Dornfeld who is averaging 12.0 points a contest. Dornfeld also leads Winona State in rebounds averaging 9.7 a game. She saw a season-high 24 points against Quincy and season-high 13 rebounds against Viterbo this season.  

Scouting the Lancers
Mount Marty is currently 3-10 on the season while holding a 1-7 record in the GPAC. The Lancers last win was against Midland University back in late-November resulting in a 67-60 victory for Mount Marty.

Leading the Lancers is Eve Millar averaging 10.7 points per game. Millar also leads the squad in rebounds, collecting 7.2 a contest.  

The contest is being played as an exhibition for the Lancers. 

The Vikings
Augustana is coming off a weekend on the road where it split the weekend with an 84-69 loss to No. 6 Minnesota State and an 84-52 victory against Concordia-St. Paul. Aby Phipps saw a career-high 21 points in the game against CSP while Aislinn Duffy collected her fourth double-double this season. 

The Vikings are led by Duffy who is averaging 16.6 points per game. Duffy also leads Augustana in rebounds collecting 8.7 a contest as well as leading the squad in assists averaging 4.3 a game. 

Kenzie Rensch continues to lead the Vikings and the NSIC in total steals and steals per game. Rensch is ranked second in the nation in total steals with 34 and is ranked fourth in the nation in steals per game with 3.40. 

One Last Thing
Two Vikings are on the cusp of reaching 1,000 career-point milestones. Duffy is just four points away from her 1,000th point as a Viking while Lauren Sees needs 57 points to surpass her milestone. The last Viking who surpassed 1000-points was in the 2018-19 season where both Lynsey Prosser and Shelby Selland etched their name in the Augustana record books. Prosser is the 25th all-time point scorer at Augustana with 1,170-points while Selland is 26th all time with 1,168 points.
