Beagle Claims Third Individual NSIC Championship on Day Three

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Taylor Beagle won her third individual NSIC Championship of 2022 in the 500 free with an NCAA 'B' Standard time of 4:57.12 to kick off night three of the NSIC Championships in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. 

The Vikings would also get two more top-ten finishes in the 500 free with Libby Breckon placing ninth swimming a time of 5:09.87 and Makoa Montgomery placing 10th with a time of 5:11.22. Anna Schmidt also scored points for the Vikings in the 500 free finishing with a time of 5:20.69. 

"We had a great third day of swimming," said Vikings head coach Lindsie Micko. "The team continues to swim lights out and I am very proud of their efforts and looking forward to a strong finish on day four."

During the 100 back, Nathalia Silva swam a personal-best time of 57.56 to place 11th in the finals. 

Nesrine Jelliti swam an NCAA 'B' Standard time in the 100 breast to claim third with a personal-best time of 1:03.06 to break the school record for the second time on the day. She first broke the previous record of 1:05.06 with her prelims time of 1:03.97.

Also during the 100 breast, Angelina Chan placed sixth with her personal-best time of 1:04.09. Lara Carnier Matuck and Amaya Street would also place 11th and 14th, respectively, to score points for the Vikings. Matuck swam a personal-best time of 1:06.49 while Street swam a time of 1:07.43. 

Leona Coha led the Vikings in the 200 fly finals where she placed eighth with a time of 2:12.67. She would swim her personal-best time of 2:11.16 earlier in the day during the prelims. 

The Vikings would also see Anna Tindall and Alysse Grohs score points for the team during the 200 fly by placing 11th and 14th, respectively, with times of 2:11.39 and 2:15.59. 

Capping off night three, the 800 free relay team consisting of Silva, Kamryn Robarge, Street, and Beagle broke the Augustana record to finish second with a time of 7:35.28. The team of Breckon, Coha, Jelliti, and Tindall would finish sixth swimming with a time of 7:48.47. 

The Vikings currently sit in third place in the NSIC Championships with 537.5 points. Minnesota State currently leads the event heading into the final day with 725.5 points. Augustana has never finished higher than fourth at the NSIC Championships. 

The Vikings will be back in action Saturday in the final day of the NSIC Championships beginning at 10 a.m. Finals begin at 5:30 p.m. Action can be followed at GoAugie.com/Live.
