SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana Swimming & Diving qualified three student-athletes for the NCAA Division II Championships announced by the NCAA Division II swimming and diving committee Wednesday.
Taylor Beagle and
Nesrine Jelliti qualify from the women's side while
Pedro Borin earns the qualification the inaugural season for the men's squad.
Taylor Beagle - 1000 Free, 400 IM, 500 Free, 1650 Free
The Lead, South Dakota, native and NSIC Swimmer of the meet qualifies for four events in this year's NCAA Championships. All of the events Beagle qualified for have NCAA 'B' Standard times. Her top time in the 1000 free of 10:08.05 currently has her sitting in seventh in Division II going into the championships. In the 400 IM, she swam her best time at the Augustana Invite this season of 4:25.18. Beagle currently sits in 11th in Division II in the 500 free with a time of 4:54.71. Her top event is the 1650 free where she currently sits in 6th place in NCAA Division II with a time of 16:58.27.
Beagle is an eight-time All-American having earned the prestigious honor the past three seasons over four events.
Nesrine Jelliti - 100 Breast
Jelliti, a native from Tunisia, will make her first appearance in the NCAA swimming and diving championships in her freshman season in the 100 Breast. She set the school record this year with an NCAA 'B' Standard time of 1:03.06 during the NSIC Championships. She currently sits in 23rd place in NCAA Division II.
Pedro Borin - 100 Fly, 200 Fly
Hailing from Sao Paulo, Brazil, Borin led the Vikings in their inaugural season for the men's swimming and diving team. His performances landed him his first selection in the NCAA Division II championships as a freshman. He currently sits in 20th in the NCAA with a time of 1:47.79 in the 200 fly, which he swam during the GLIAC Championships. Borin also has a personal-best time in the 100 fly of 48.98. Both of his times are NCAA 'B' Standards.
The championships are set to take place in Greensboro, North Carolina, March 9-12th inside of the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
