Augustana Swimming and Diving ready for NCAA Championships

SIOUX FALLS. S.D. – After qualifying for the NCAA Division II Championships, Taylor Beagle, Nesrine Jelliti and Pedro Borin are traveling to Greensboro, North Carolina, to represent the Vikings at the Swimming and Diving National Championships. 

The championships are being held at the Greensboro Aquatics Center Wednesday through Saturday.

"We are excited about taking Taylor, Nesrine and Pedro to the 2022 NCAA swimming and diving championships," said Augustana head coach Lindsie Micko. "All three student-athletes have worked hard to earn their opportunity to swim against the best in the nation."

Beagle will be back in the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships for the fifth time in her time at AU. Jelitti will be making her first appearance in the championships during her freshman campaign. Borin will be making his debut and is the first men's qualifier for the NCAA Championships in the men's swimming and diving's inaugural season. 

Wednesday will see Beagle compete in her first event of the NCAA Championships in the 1000 Free. On Thursday, it will be Beagle competing again in the 400 IM. Borin will make a splash for the first time on Thursday as well, competing in the 100 Fly. 

All three Vikings will be in the pool on Friday as Beagle competes in the 500 Free, Jelliti in the 100 Breast and Borin the 200 Fly.

Saturday, the final day of competition, will see Beagle compete in the 1,650 Free.

Finishers first through eighth will be named to the NCAA All-America while places nine through 16 will be an honorable mention. 

The NCAA Division II swimming and diving championships will be streamed live on NCAA.com. 

Taylor Beagle - Sr. - 1000 Free, 400 IM, 500 Free, 1650 Free

Beagle is making her fifth appearance in the NCAA Championships this season where she will be competing in four events. Her top event, the 1650 free, will be the first time that an Augustana swimmer will be competing in a night event at the NCAA Championships. She is currently ranked sixth with a time of 16:58.27. She is also competing in the 1000 free where she is ranked seventh with a time of 10:08.05. Beagle is also just outside of the top 10 in the 500 free where she is ranked 11th with a time of 4:51.71. The final event that Beagle qualified for was the 400 IM where she ranks 23rd with a time of 4:25.18. 

Nesrine Jelliti - Fr. - 100 Breast

Jelliti will be making her NCAA Championships debut as a freshman in the 100 breast event. During this event, Jelliti holds the Augustana school-record with a time of 1:03.06. That time makes Jelliti ranked 23rd in Division II heading into the Championships. 

Pedro Borin - Fr. - 200 Fly, 100 Fly 

Borin will also be making his NCAA Championships debut as a freshman in the inaugural season for the Vikings men's swimming & diving team. His top event in the championships is the 200 fly where he currently is ranked 19th with a time of 1:47.79. Borin has also been invited to the 100 fly where he ranks 42nd with a time of 48.98.
