ORLANDO, Fla. – The Augustana baseball team was on the wrong end of a 12-10 10-inning game late Wednesday against Ashland in Orlando, Florida. The loss is just the second on the year for the Vikings while the Eagles move to 5-4.

The Vikings scored in the first, second, fourth, sixth and eighth innings to account for their 10 runs, but it was the runs in the 10
th that countered AU to create the separation.

With the score knotted at 10-all, the Eagles plated two runs in the bottom of the 10
th to win the game.

The Vikings tallied 12 hits on the night with a 3-for-5 outing from
Trevor Winterstein while he collected three RBI. He recorded a home run in the second inning which also brought in
Luke Ballweg.

Carter Howell totaled two hits, two runs scored and three RBI while also drawing a walk. He scored the Vikings' first run of the game on a wild pitch, singled in the seventh inning to bring in
Ben Ihrke and singled in the eighth inning to score
Jaxon Rosencranz and
Jack Hines.

It was his eighth-inning single that knotted things up at 10-all to set up the extra-inning showdown.

Evan Furst tossing 4.2 innings.

Augustana has a unique Thursday as it will resume its game from Monday with Grand Valley State in the eighth inning. The contest was halted at 8-8 due to significant rain fall. Following the conclusion of the game, the Vikings and Lakers will then tangle in a nine-inning affair.
