SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana women's basketball head coach Dave Krauth will be one of 15 inductees into the South Dakota Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2022.
Krauth, who finished his 33rd season at the helm of the Vikings, has a record of 670-296, translating to a .694 win/loss percentage. He has recorded 33 winning seasons at Augustana.
In addition to having a winning season, every season, for his tenure at Augustana, Krauth is the fifth-winningest active coach in Division II and 10th on the winningest coaches' all-time list.
In the 2020-21 season, Krauth hit two historic milestones, achieving his 650th-career win at Augustana, and shortly after he hit the unique milestone of 1,000 wins between high school and college. He was named the NSIC South Division Coach of the Year en route to the Vikings becoming NSIC South Division Champions.
Krauth's accolades did not stop as he was named a finalist for the United States Marine Corps/WBCA NCAA Division II National Coach of the Year.
During his 33 years, he has led the Vikings to 14 NCAA Tournaments including the final four back in 2013.
Krauth's coaching accolades speak for themselves with two NSIC Coach of the Year awards (2018 and 2021), North Central Conference Coach of the Year (1990), the South Dakota Sportswriters' College Women's Coach of the Year (1994) and the South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association Women's College Coach of the Year for 1989-90, 1990-91 and 2004-05. In 2006, he was named the Russell Athletic/WBCA Division II, Region Seven Coach of the Year.
He has also been inducted into the Sioux Falls O'Gorman High School Athletic Hall of Fame back in 2012.
The SDSHoF banquet and induction ceremony will be Sunday, Sept. 25, at the Sioux Falls Convention Center. Ticket information will be available later.
The South Dakota Sports Hall of Fame is run by a committee of about 30 volunteers from across the state. It was started by the South Dakota Sportswriters in 1969, and this year's class brings the total of inductees to 314.
