SIOUX FALLS, S.D.-- Augustana wrestling has added another wrestler to the 2021-22 signing class on Tuesday. Jonah Gruenes will enroll in the fall of 2022.

Reitmeier on Gruenes: "Boy, Jonah has been on our radar for a long time. We started talking to Jonah last spring and now he's going to be a Viking! Jonah is exactly what we look for in our student-athletes, great student and outstanding all-around athlete. Jonah is a three sport starter excelling in football, baseball and wrestling. His ceiling is super high and we feel he is going to grow a lot in his first year in wrestling at Augustana. We are excited to get to work with Jonah this fall."

High School: Gruenes graduated from Minneota High School in May of 2022. As a senior, he held a 37-2 record and earned Academic All-State honors. Gruenes was also a section champion, a state participant and earned his 150th win during his senior season. He was a two-time team captain as a junior and senior.

Personal: Jonah is the son of Jennifer and Mark Gruenes. He has four siblings and enjoys playing video games, watching movies and playing baseball. While at Augustana, he plans to major in data science.
