JAMESTOWN, N.D. - The Augustana cross country team closed its final tune up before the NSIC Championships on Friday afternoon. The women's program (6k) finished first with 23 points, while the men's program (8k) closed in third in the Jimmie Invite, hosted by Jamestown. 

"It was a great team performance today." said head coach Tracy Hellman. "We are very pleased with our pack today, especially with our women. We now enter the championship portion of our season and we are super excited for the opportunities that await.  We can't wait to get back to work."

On the women's side, the Vikings found themselves all over the top 10, with Lindsey Young finishing with a personal-best 22:29.8 to earn second place and Caroline Sudbeck right behind her in third with a time of 22:31.3 leading the pack. 

Eleni Lovgren slotted in at fifth with a time of 22:40.0, a personal best, and Taylor Melton came in sixth after clocking in at 22:41.9. Rounding out the group to finish in the top 10 were Laura Thompson, whose personal-best 22:52.0 was good for eighth, and Tenley Nelson followed in ninth with a personal-best 22:54.6. 

For the men, Isaac Fink was the highest finisher for the Vikings, closing the day in 12th with a personal-best of 25:52.4. Daniel Street placed 17th with a time of 26:06.4, and Parker Fitzgerald's personal-best 26:13.0 gave him a 20th place finish. Beau Brock ran the 8k in 26:22.8, and Ben Haberman turned in a 28th place finish with a time of 26:32.0.

The Vikings will now take two weeks to prepare for the NSIC Championships on Oct. 21 in Bismarck, N.D.
