BROOKINGS, S.D. – Augustana wrestling squared off against Northern State, Dakota Wesleyan and South Dakota State in its first quad meet of the 2023-24 season. An early 26-18 win over Northern State carried into the second bout vs Dakota Wesleyan where AU won 52-6. Augustana went 2-1 on the night after it fell to SDSU in its final match. 

Vs. Northern State
Christian Olsen (125 pounds) opened up the meet with a 9-6 victory over Brenden Salfrank to open up the match 3-0 in favor of Augustana. After two losses in the 133 and 141 pounds class, Kyle Boeke (149 pounds) and Connor Simmonds(157 pounds) brought the match to 12-9. 

Payton Anderson (165 pounds) gave Augustana its first lead of the night at 13-12 after scoring a 14-5 win. Coy Gunderson (174 pounds) dominated with a 19-4 win to push the Vikings lead to 18-12. 

Northern State evened the odds at 18-18 but wins by Zach Peterson (197 pounds) and Edward Hajas (285 pounds) helped Augustana walk away with the 26-18 win. 

Vs. Dakota Wesleyan
Augustana dominated in its second match of the night as the Vikings won nine of 10. Jaxson Rohman, Thurman Christensen, Payton Handevidt, Payton Anderson and Max Balow all scored wins by fall. Kage Lenger (149 pounds) made quick work of his opponent as he won 16-0.

Max Ramberg (197 pounds) defeated his opponent by a 19-4 decision. 

Vs. South Dakota State
Danny Reynolds (184 pounds) scored a win over Kalen Meyer by fall at 1:37 while Tyler Wagener (165 pounds) defeated Connor Gaynor by decision 6-3.
