HOLLAND, Mich. — Pedro Borin claimed a third-place finish in the 200 fly at the GLIAC Championships with an NCAA "B" Standard time to earn an all-conference honor. Borin is the first Viking to place in the top-three of an event at the GLIAC Championships this season. He touched the wall in a time of 1:49.08 to round out day three of the championships.Â
Five additional Vikings saw trips to the finals in today's meet. Mason Kauffeld garnered an AU school record in the 100 breast, swimming in a finals time of 55.98 to collect an 11th place finish.Â
Aeson Akins and Jackson Dircks claimed a trip into the finals in the 100 back. Akins collected a 12th place finish in a time of 50:55 while Dircks recorded a 15th place finish swimming in a finals time of 51.04.Â
Matthew Pietsch was the third Viking to earn a trip to the finals garnering a 15th place finish in the 500 free swimming in a time of 4:41.44.Â
Capping off the day for Augstana was the 800 free relay. Raced by Borin, Pietsch, Dircks and Lui Gabriel Pinto, the quartet garnered a sixth place finish with a final time of 6:55.57.Â
Grand Valley State leads the meet with 672 points. The Vikings, in their second year competing, are in seventh place with 154 points.Â

"We had a great day," said Augustana head coach Lindsie Micko. "This is the most swims that we have had in the finals. There were lots of personal best times and it was great to see more individuals scoring points for the team."
