INDIANAPOLIS – In the first official ranking from the NCAA Basketball Central Regional Ranking Committee, the Augustana women's basketball team is fifth. Augustana owns a 21-4 record over NCAA DII opponents with wins over No. 2 Minnesota Duluth, No. 7 Missouri Western and No. 10 Fort Hays State.
The NSIC, the Great American Conference (GAC) and the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) make up the 42-team NCAA Central Region again this year. The top eight teams in the region advance to the NCAA Regional Tournament on March 10-11-13. Automatic bids are granted to the winners of the NSIC, GAC and MIAA postseason tournaments, with the remaining five spots being awarded on an at-large basis.
The NCAA Women's Basketball Selection Show is on Sunday, March 5. The NCAA Elite Eight will take place on March 20-24 at The Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana.
