SIOUX FALLS, S.D.-- The Augustana indoor track & field squad is ready to take on the NSIC Championships in Mankato, Minnesota, Friday and Saturday.

Back in December, the NSIC named Nicollete Schmidt as the preseason track athlete to watch while naming Kylee Sallee as the preseason field athlete to watch for the women. On the men's side, Jonathan Sikel was titled the preseason field athlete to watch for Augustana while Lawrence Lokonobei earned preseason track athlete to watch.
In NSIC action this season, the Vikings have garnered 12 individuals who have recorded top-3 times within the conference. Cami Streff begins the top-3 placements with two second place finishes. Her first is in the 8000 meter with a time of 2:13.54 and the second coming from the 1000 meter with a time of 2:53.54.
Continuing the top-3 marks for the women is Megan Means who holds a third place finish in the 5000 meter, running in a time of 17:08.79. Joining Means in the distance category is Augustana's Patty Jo English, Ella Heinitz, Mia Salas and Nicolette Schmidt who rank second in the NSIC in the distance medley relay with a time of 11:56.11. This time ranks the quartet at 19th nationally.
Nyanas Kur has seen great strides for Augustana this season, breaking two school records through the 200 meter and 60 meter dash. Kur ranks 15th in the nation in the 200 meter dash crossing the finish line in a time of 24.29.
Rounding out the competition for the women, is Kylee Salle who holds a fourth place spot in the NSIC in the pentathlon, holding a personal best score of 3525. Mackenzie Hemmer is one spot behind Sallee with 3208 points.
For the men, Colten Brand ranks third in the NSIC in the one mile with a time of 4:12.01. Brand Also holds a third place finish in the NSIC with a time of 8:23.53 in the 3000 meter run. Joining Brand in the distance races is Henry Klizke who leads the NSIC in two events. Klitzke broke an Augustana school record just two weekends ago in the 5000 meter run, finishing the race in a time of 14:15.55. Klizke holds his second first-place NSIC finish in the 3000 meter run with a time of 8:20.33.
Another individual who has broken an AU program record this season is Lawrence Lokonobei. He ranks second in the NSIC in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 7.99, this time ranks him at 16th in all of Division II. At his heels is Andrew Martens who ranks third in the NSIC in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.03.
One Last Thing
Augustana has recorded 21 NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks so far this season. Amongst those is Kur who ranks 15th nationally in the 200 meter dash, as well as Lokonobei with a 16th place finish in all of Division II and finally Klizke who is 15th in the nation in the 5000 meter run.
