SIOUX FALLS, S.D.--The Augustana baseball team heads to Quincy, Illinois, this weekend for a three-game series against the Quincy Hawks.

The Hawks
Quincy is 8-3 in 2023 and swept Northwood in its last appearance on the field. The Hawks compete in the GLVC and finished last season at the NCAA Midwest Super Regional.

At the plate, Gino D'Alessio leads the Hawks with 19 hits, seven doubles and a .422 batting average. Nolan Wosman is Quincy's leader with five home runs while Austin Simpson and Luke Napleton have each totaled 14 RBI.

Spencer Walker has been an asset on the mound for the Hawks, pitching 16.2 innings and holding a record of 2-0. Walker's ERA is 3.78 and he has logged 13 strikeouts. Cruz Meier has made four starts for Quincy and holds a record of 1-0 with nine strikeouts.

The Vikings
Augustana holds a record of 11-6 overall in 2023. The Vikings enter the series after playing four games in Cary, North Carolina, last weekend. AU went 3-1 with wins over D'Youville, No. 7 West Chester and Dominican.

Jack Hines holds a batting average of .417 with 20 hits, two home runs and nine RBI. Leading the Vikings in the hits category is Trevor Winterstein with 26. Winterstein was named the NSIC Player of the Week following his performance in the CCU series earlier this season. In that series, Winterstein held a batting average of .529 as he recorded nine hits, five runs, one double and two home runs in the series, added 10 RBI and went 1-for-1 on stolen base attempts. 

On the mound, Caleb Saari has pitched 24.0 innings and has an ERA of 2.63 and a WHIP of .96. Saari holds a record of 3-0 this season and leads the team with 31 strikeouts. The Vikings pitching staff have logged 170 strikeouts this season.

One Last Thing
The Vikings last matched up against Quincy in March of 1991. The teams have only played one game against each other in program history.
