Augustana T&F Ready for NSIC Outdoor Championships

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana outdoor track & field teams are ready to compete at the NSIC Outdoor Championships Thursday through Saturday in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Vikings head into the conference postseason hailing 25 top-5 finishes in the NSIC this season. Of those 25 marks, 14 are within the top-3 and three individual marks are on top of the NSIC leaderboard.

The 2023 NSIC Outdoor Track & Field Championships will take place Thursday-Saturday, May 11-13 at Sea Foam Stadium on the campus of Concordia University, St. Paul. All-Conference performers shall consist of the top three place winners in each event and the members of the top two relay teams from the Conference meet.

Live stats and live video will be available at GoAugie.com/Live and the GoAugie app. The app is available in the app store and Google Play and is presented by the Original Pancake House.  The meet will begin Thursday at 1 p.m., followed by a 10 a.m. start on Friday and an 11 a.m. start on Saturday. 

So far this season, Augustana has claimed 18 NCAA division II provisional qualifying marks across 13 individuals. Among those 13, five individuals have claimed two provisional qualifying marks each. Three women and two men have grasped two provisional marks. These individuals are Patty Jo English, Nyanas Kur, Kylee Sallee, Ryan Hartman and Colten Brand. 

Patty Jo English holds marks in the 5,000m and the 1,500m, English holds the 19th fastest time in all of division II in the 5,000m with a time of 16:27.97. Nyanas Kur has claimed two marks through the 100m and 200m dash, with the 11th fastest time in the nation this season in the 100m with a time of 23.59. Rounding out the provisional marks for the women is Kylee Sallee, who holds two marks through the long jump and heptathlon. For the men, Ryan Hartman and Colten Brand both hail marks in the 5,000m and 1,500m. Finishing off provisional marks, is Andrew Martens who records the 16th fastest time in the nation so far this season in the 110m hurdles, holding the Augustana school record with a time of 14.04.

To finish off the remaining eight student-athletes with provisional qualifying marks are Ella Bakken, Megan Means, Elizabeth Schaefer, Noa Marteau, Kaja Salemonsen, Matt Steiger, Andrew Martens and Jesse Kaas. 

Means joins English in the 5,000m run, holding the 21st fastest time in division II with a time of 16:29.67. Schaefer and Marteau both hail marks in the 400m hurdles with both individuals placing within the top-40 times in the nation. While Bakken rounds out the distance provisional marks in the 10,000m. Salemonsen joins Sallee in the field, seeing a provisional mark in the triple jump with a distance of 12.10m. To wrap up the provisional marks are Steiger and Kaas who both join Hartman and Brand in the 5,000m run, in which three of the four individuals place in the top-40 times in the nation. 

During the most recent NSIC Indoor Championships, Henry Klitzke and Colten Brand tied for high point scorer with 20 points apiece. Augustana saw runner up finishes for both the women and men's squads. The Vikings hailed six NSIC Champions and eight NSIC All-Conference finishes. 

One Last Thing
At the 2022 NSIC Outdoor Championships, Augustana claimed second place team finishes garnering 19 NSIC All-Conference finishes while also recording three NSIC titles. AU saw 19 individuals advance into last year's finals.
