Makepeace Era Underway for Viking Swimming & Diving

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana swimming & diving teams made a splash Thursday in the season opener at the Midco Aquatic Center. The meet was the first under head coach Andrew Makepeace as he guided the women's team to a 167-133 victory over St. Cloud State. In addition, the men's team saw a pair of school records fall.

In the Fast Lane Off the Boards
  • Augustana swept the women's diving portion as Clare Duplissis totaled 216.15 points in six dives at 1-meter. She was followed by Avery Lommel with 213.30 points.
  • The duo flipped positions on the 3-meter dive as Lommel recorded 217.95 points and Duplissis tallied 212.55 points.
  •  David Binsfeld cracked a new school record on the men's side on the 1-meter dive with 227.63 points. He placed runner-up in the event.

Augustana is back in action Friday, Oct. 6 with a 5 p.m. dual at South Dakota State. The Vikings continue action against NCAA Division I competition Saturday, Oct. 7 with an 11 a.m. dual at St. Thomas.
