BROOKINGS, S.D. – Augustana men's and women's track and field kicked off its final regular season indoor meet with multiple Vikings on the podium at the SDSU Last Chance meet.
Andrew Martens started the meet off hot for the Vikings as he claimed a first-place time of 8.11 in the men's 60m hurdle prelims. Martens followed up his impressive run with a first-place finish in the finals with a time of 7.98.
Maia Peterson joined the party with a first-place finish in the women's 400m with a time of 57.36.
Jayda Becker followed Peterson with a fifth-place finish with a time of 59.69.
Ryan Hartman continued his impressive indoor season as he claimed a first-place finish in the men's one mile as he ran for a time of 4:10.21.
Augustana showed out in the men's 1000m run as
Tyson Ricker claimed the highest podium with a time of 2:28.59 and now sits eighth all-time in the school record book.
Parker Fitzgerald and
Beau Brock claimed 4th and 5th spots in the event.
Ashley Overgaauw claimed the top spot in the women's 1000m with a time of 2:56.11 and was joined on the podium by
Eleni Lovgren as she claimed second with a time of 3:01.25.
Nyanas Kur has been a staple throughout the season and showed the reason why as she claimed a first-place finish in the women's 200m with a time of 24.64. Kur was joined by
Lily Juhnke in third and Junnifer Noutsougan in fourth.
When the women's 3000m event was complete, it was
Aubrey Surage who claimed a first in dominating form as she finished with a time of 9:57.16. Surage was joined by
Ella Bakken in second with a time of 10:08.48 and Lindsay Young in fifth.
Erik Gundersen piled in with a first-place finish in the men's 3000m with a time of 8:25.82. Dawson Storm dashed across the line in fifth.
The Vikings dominated the women's long jump as
Kylee Sallee leaped to a first-place finish with a mark of 5.44m.
Jayda Becker joined the fun with a second-place finish with a mark of 5.24m and
Maria Pedroso jumped to a fifth-place finish.
Kaja Salemonsen went to work in the women's triple jump as she jumped to a first-place finish and a mark of 11.56. Sammi Sundby followed up with a second-place finish with a leap of 11.16m.
Caroline Sudbeck claimed a second-place finish in the women's 600m as she crossed the finish line with a time of 1:25.35.
Juhnke took part in the women's 60m as she claimed a fourth-place finish in the preliminary dash before she claimed a podium finish in the finals with a time of 7.77.
