GENEVA, Ohio –
Avery Lommel made her mark on the Augustana swimming & diving program as she earned the first-ever All-America honor for a diver Thursday. The freshman placed fourth in the nation on the 3M dive with 435.55 points.

In addition to Lommel's dives, the 400 medley relay team garnered 10 points for the Vikings with a 12
th place finish.

Lommel, the 2024 NSIC Diver of the Year as a true freshman, earned her way into the finals after tallying 439.25 points on the 11-dive prelims. In the finals, she scored 36.3 points on her first jump and followed with a 28.0. She really took off on her third and fourth dives as she recorded a 50.4 followed by a 52.65. She closed the session with a 42.0 and 43.05 for her All-America honor.

Nesrine Jelliti,
Nathalia Silva and
Meesha Montgomery clocked in with a time of 3:44.07 in the timed finals.
"Wow! Avery was so impressive to be top-four at her first NCAA competition," Augustana head coach Andrew Makepeace said. "I know how proud (head diving coach) Shelby (Bartlett) is of her performance. And she just keeps improving!

"Our relay was just off the school record and had some great performances. We walk away with big points and are set up for the remainder of the week."

On Thursday morning, Montgomery competed in the 200 free where she clocked in a 1:52.26, just .06 off the school record. The personal-best time placed Montgomery 37
th overall.
As a team, Augustana is in 10th place at the championships with 70 points.Â
