Caroline Sudbeck and
Ashley Overgaauw crossed the finish line in victory formation as it topped the podium in the women's distance medley college event Saturday morning, marking the sixth consecutive DMR championship for Augustana track and field. Saturday's win marks the longest active winning streak at the Drake Relays.
The women's DMR finished with a time of 11:45.82 with splits of 3:39.03, 56.23, 2:14.64 and 4:55.93 from lane 12.
On the men's side,
Colten Brand,
Ethan Boyens,
Tyson Ricker and
Ryan Hartman finished with a new school record time of 9:49.93 with splits of 3:02.51, 49.20, 1:55.29 and 4:02.94 from lane 8.
Andrew Martens rebroke his school record in the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 13.56. Martens placed second in the event and has the third-best time in the nation.
After qualifying earlier in the week,
Jennifer Noutsougan,
Nyanas Kur,
Kylee Sallee and
Lily Juhnke placed seventh in the women's 4x100 with a time of 47.66.
Bryn Greenwaldt finished out the weekend with a fifth-place finish in the women's high jump with a mark of 1.69.
"It was another great weekend of track for our crew at the Drake Relays. Highlighting the weekend was the women's DMR winning their sixth straight title. It's always a special thing to win a Drake Relays title and it was another battle. The men finished runner-up in the DMR and set a new school record with another great performance" said Director of Track and Field
Tracy Hellman.
Hellman continued "Having our women 4x100 qualify for final and placing seventh was a great finish for that group. Also seeing Bryn placing in the women's high jump was a great way to finish out an outstanding Drake relays for our crew"
