SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The No. 9 Augustana wrestling team will hit the mat for the final time inside the Elmen Center this season as the Vikings host the NCAA Super Region V Tournament on Saturday.
Action is set to kick off at 10 a.m. and will feature athletes from across the region, which includes all 10 NSIC schools and Upper Iowa. Of the 11 competition teams, five are ranked and four are receiving votes, led by the top-ranked St. Cloud State Huskies.

At 125 pounds,
Jaxson Rohman looks to make his third national championship following back-to-back national runner-up finishes. The senior from Trimont, Minnesota is 15-4 overall this season with a 9-0 record against region opponents. The field features three ranked in the weight class, with Rohman leading at No. 3.
Owen Hansen will take the mat at 133 pounds after seeing action in five duals so far this season. The redshirt freshman from Gregory, S.D. holds a record of 2-6 and will compete in a weight class with four ranked wrestlers
At 14-9,
Connor Whiteley is set for the 141-pound bracket. The redshirt freshman is 5-2 against region foes and has seen action in four conference dual this season. His weight class features three ranked wrestlers.
No. 4
Cael Larson qualified for the NCAA Championships a season ago after a 3-2 showing at the super region and looks to make a return trip this year. He boasts a record of 16-5 this season and is 9-2 against region opponents. Larson is joined by five ranked wrestlers in his class.
Connor Simmonds will hit the mat for AU at 157 pounds after accruing a 5-4 through nine duals. He is 3-4 against region competition that features three ranked wrestlers, having previously defeated No. 8 Ben Durocher of Parkside.
At 165,
Payton Handevidt heads into the super region with a 17-12 record. He's gone 9-8 in duals this season with a 10-4 showing against regional competition. Three wrestlers are nationally rated in the weight class, with Handevidt having faced each of them.
After going 3-2 at the super region a season ago,
Coy Gunderson is 8-3 this season, competing in 11 duals for the Vikings. He's collected six wins over region foes and will face a 174-pound weight class with three nationally ranked wrestlers.
No. 8
Cade Mueller went 2-1 to secure an NCAA Championship qualification at the last season's super region and looks to run it again this year. With a current record of 15-5, he will face three other ranked wrestlers in the weight class and boasts an 11-0 record against region opponents.
At 197 pounds, No. 4
Max Ramberg is 28-4 overall heading into Saturday, including a 13-3 record against regional competition. He went 3-1 at the region tournament a season ago and earned an NCAA qualification. Ramberg will face a weight class with two other ranked opponents, including top-rated Dominic Murphy of St. Cloud State
Rounding out the Viking probables is
Max Balow at 285 pounds. He is 6-17 on the season, having faced 14 region opponents. Balow enters the weekend on a three-match win streak against conference foe and will faced a weight class loaded with six nationally ranked wrestlers.
Looking Ahead
Should Augustana have any wrestlers finish in the top three on Saturday, the Vikings will head to Indianapolis, Ind., for the NCAA DII National Tournament where championship action will take place March 14 and 15.
