SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Augustana Vikings are ready to compete in this year's Drake Relays along with the Gary Wilson Invitational in Minnesota and in Iowa for the Kip Janvrin Open.

The Drake Relays will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23 and continue through Saturday, April 26. The Kip Janvrin Open begins Thursday, April 24 at 4 p.m. and will continue through Saturday, April 26. The Gary Wilson Invitational begins with running events at 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23.

Last year's Drake Relays
Last year's relays saw multiple top 10 finishes with Ryan Hartman kicking it off placing second in the 1500-meter run.Â

The women's sprint medley took home the second-place finish with Lily Juhnke, Ella Heinitz, Maia Peterson, and Caroline Sudbeck running.

The women's distance medley relay team looks to continue their streak and make it seven consecutive championships at this year's Drake Relay.Â

Andrew Martens broke his own school record last year in the 110-meter hurdles which landed him second place. This year he is competing to take first place.Â

The men's and women's 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relays look to compete and land a spot on the podium in this year's relays. The sprint medleys also look to land spots on the podium.Â

This year's relay teams have seen success this outdoor season. The women's 4x100-meter relay has garnered multiple top 3 finishes including a first-place finish at the USD Early Bird Invite. The men's 4x400-meter relay also saw a first-place finish at USD Early Bird Invite

Last Week
At the Mankato Invitational, the Vikings gathered multiple top 10 performances starting with both the men's and women's 4x100-meter relays taking first place.Â

In the 1500-meter run, six athletes placed in the top 12 including Tenley Nelson (second), Taylor Melton (third), Ramsey Karim (fourth), Ally Sample (sixth), Avari Getchell (ninth), and Kaelyn Nelson (11th).Â

The men followed suit in the 1500-meter run with four athletes placing in the top 10 with Alex Schumacher placing second, Kieran Weigelt (fourth), Addisu Haverly (seventh), and Bridger Steiner-Smith (tenth).Â

Juhnke and Jennifer Noutsougan took third and fifth in the 100-meter dash. Juhnke ran a time that put her in the fourth spot overall in Augustana history.Â

Liam Schick put his name into the Augustana record books in the eighth spot for the men's 200-meter dash. Noutsougan broke her previous record for a fifth-place spot in Augustana history in the women's 200-meter dash.Â

Ryan Hartman will look to compete for a first-place finish after shattering his previous record in the 5000-meter run by 10 seconds at the Bryan Clay Invitational.Â

Nyanus Kur also ran for a new spot in Augustana history taking the second-place spot in the 400-meter dash.Â

The Vikings will travel south to Vermillion, South Dakota to compete at the USD Tune Up on May 2.Â
