Sallee Breaks Long Jump Records as Vikings Compete in Mankato and Vermillion

VERMILLION, S.D. – Augustana track and field spent two days on the track down in Coyote territory after a day of strong performances over in Mankato on Wednesday where yet another Augustana school record was broken this season.

Kylee Sallee headlined the top Wednesday performances for the Vikings as she jumped into third place with a 20-01.50, a brand-new program record in the event. Her mark is also the ninth-best performance in the event for Division II so far this season. Jayda Becker (19-04.75, PR) also took fifth and Maria Pedroso (17-11.75) was 10th in the event.
 
Lexi Olderbak took eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 35-07.25 while over in the high jump, Bryn Greenwaldt won the event with a height of 5-06.00 and Clara Binstock was eighth with a 5-02.25.
 
In the women's javelin throw, Ashton Massey was ninth after her throw of 103-01.00.
 
Pedroso and Massey went back-to-back in the 400-meter hurdle, taking second in 1:03.35 for a PR and third in 1:06.04, respectively. Ella Heinitz clocked a 57.88 in the 400-meter dash for a third-place finish overall.
 
In the 200-meter dashes, Caitlin Ostbye was ninth in 25.55 for the women while Melik Davis was sixth in 22.16 for the men. The duo also competed in the 100-meter dash, where Ostbye took fifth in 12.48 and Davis was fourth in 11.17.

Augustana lit it up down at the University of South Dakota following two days of action on Friday and Saturday.
 
Layton Johnson clocked a 10.80 for sixth place overall in the men's 100-meter dash while over on the women's side of the event, Lily Juhnke (12.17) and Jennifer Noutsougan (12.41) took second and seventh, respectively.
 
Maria Pedroso ran a new personal best in the 100-meter hurdles with her time of 14.44, now a new top 10 mark in Augustana history. Andrew Marten also took fourth in the men's 110-meter hurdles with his clocking of 13.97.
 
Juhnke took eighth in the 200-meter dash after her clocking of 25.01 and Jude Jarding added in an eighth-place finish on the men's side of the 400-meter dash in 49.11 seconds.
 
In the men's 400-meter hurdles, Tyler Christianson clocked a new personal best of 54.57 for a fourth-place finish in the event.
 
Ethan Sadler took ninth in the men's 800-meter run in 1:59.90 and Caroline Sudbeck was 10th with a time of 4:37.67 in the women's 1500-meter run.
 
Parker Fitzgerald and Ben Haberman went back-to-back in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase, clocking times of 10:07.68 and 10:12.01, respectively.
 
Greenwaldt collected another top-five finish in the high jump, finishing fourth in Vermillion with a 5-06.00 as Binstock was ninth with a personal best of 5-02.25.
 
Sallee continued her streak over the weekend with a runner-up finish in the long jump, jumping her way to the podium with a leap of 19-03.25.
 
In the relays, the men's 4x400-meter squad was third in 3:21.10 and the men's 4x100-meter team took seventh in a time of 41.92.
 
UP NEXT
Augustana track and field will turn its sight toward the NSIC Outdoor Championship meet in Duluth, Minn., taking place from Thursday, May 8 to Saturday, May 10.
