SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana women's basketball head coach Nate Vogel's coaching staff is complete after welcoming Carter Hayden as assistant coach for the Vikings.

Hayden arrives on campus after four seasons as the head assistant women's basketball coach at Viterbo University, an NAIA school in La Crosse, Wisconsin. With the V-Hawks, he spearheaded defensive schemes, developed scouting reports and individualized skill workouts and managed program engagement across social platforms through content creation.

"I'm super excited to add Carter to our staff," said Vogel. "Carter has spent a lot of time recruiting our region. He has head coaching experience from his time as an AAU coach in Wisconsin. Carter will do a great job for us and I'm excited to add him to our Augustana Women's Basketball family."

Prior to Viterbo, Hayden worked as a football video scout with Sports Info Solutions, tracking player personnel and play data for NFL and collegiate football games while scouting draft prospects.

Hayden also served as an Assistant Coach for Team USA in the United World Games in June of 2024, where his efforts in leading practices and designing and implementing defensive strategies helped bring the team to a Bronze Medal finish. He also spent five years as head coach for the Wisconsin Playmakers AAU team.

A graduate of UW-La Crosse, Hayden earned his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Sports Science with a minor in Coaching Competitive Athletes in 2020. He also completed his Master of Science in Kinesiology (Coaching Education) at Georgia Southern in 2024.

"I'm incredibly excited to join the Augustana Women's Basketball program," said Hayden. "It's super exciting to be a part of the great tradition and standard of excellence that Augustana displays. I'm super excited to get to work, start working with our players, and help build something special here. Thanks Coach Vogel for this opportunity and Go Vikings!"
