MARSHALL, Minn. - A pair of Vikings earned their first career Region Championships as the Augustana wrestling team will send three to the NCAA Championships following Super Region V action in the R/A Facility. As a team, the Vikings finished fourth with 95.5 points. 

Coy Gunderson went 3-0 in the tournament, taking three narrow decisions on his way to the 174-pound crown. After opening with a 4-2 win over Damen Pape of Northern State, he went the distance with No. 11 Bryce Dagel, eventually picking up a takedown in sudden victory to qualify for nationals and move onto the finals. He went on to knock off No. 13 Drake Hayward in the final, holding on after a reversal in the third period to take the crown. 

At 197, Max Ramberg ran the table as well with three matches on his way to the title. He opened with a second-period tech fall against Emery Slater of UMary and got a major decision over Jordan Blanchard in the semifinals. In the final, Ramberg strung together a takedown and riding point in the third period to finish off an 8-2 decision over No. 15 Tyson Meyer of St. Cloud State. 

Reaching his first NCAA Championships is Charlie Petit at 184 pounds. The redshirt freshman started his day with a pair of tech falls, first against Edon Davis of MSUM before one against Payton Wayman of Minot State. He dominated Sam Bruss to the tune of a 13-1 major decision before dropping a 2-0 decision in the final against No. 2 Cole Glazier. 

A pair of Vikings reached the third-place match in their respective weight classes, ultimately falling for a chance to go to nationals. At 149 pounds, Nolan Ambrose had an impressive first regional showing, going 3-2 on the day. His lone losses came to top-10 opponents as he concludes his redshirt freshman season 28-6 overall. Max Balow also went 3-2 with his only losses coming against Cooper Caraway of Wisconsin Parkside.

Luke Koenen went 2-2 in his first career super regional on his way to a fifth-place finish. Both victories came over Krayle Stormer of Northern State. Cael Larson also went 2-2 on his way to a fifth-place finish in the deepest weight class of the tournament. He earned both victories over Preston Klostermann of Upper Iowa. 

Gunderson, Petit and Ramberg now set their sights on the Denny Sanford Premier Center, the site of the NCAA Championships, on Mar. 13 and 14.
