SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana wrestling (2-1) dropped their first dual of the season to South Dakota State University (2-2) by a score of 30-3 at the Sanford Pentagon Sunday afternoon.

The Vikings got off to a slow start, falling behind 11-0 before getting on the board at 149 pounds.  Jacob Anderson (149 pounds) won the lone victory with two reversals and a takedown en route to his 9-7 decision over Luke Zilverberg. With the win, Anderson's record improves to 13-5 on the season.

The Jackrabbits logged five decisions and one major decision in their six-bout run to follow. Shawn Hatlestad (157 pounds) battled against 16th-ranked Cody Pack, but couldn't break through, losing in a major decision of 22-9.

Bradyn Neises (165 pounds) matched up against Ben Schwery, both wrestlers battled to the final seconds before Schwery recorded a takedown to capture the victory in a 6-4 decision. The takedown was challenged, but the call on the mat upheld, giving Schwery the victory.

David Kocer continued the Jackrabbits streak winning in a 3-0 decision over Tim Weber, followed by the 184-pound match featuring Aero Amo and Brady Ayers of South Dakota State. Ayers came out on top, getting the decision, 6-4.

Jeff Nielsen (197 pounds) and Michael Lowman (285 pounds) closed-out the dual against SDSU. Nielsen lost in an 8-3 decision over 16th-ranked Nate Rotert, while J.J Everard closed out the scoring for the Jackrabbits with a 6-4 decision over Lowman, winning the dual 30-3.
