FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Augustana College wrestling team finished 1-2 at the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals after a 24-13 loss to No. 10 Lindenwood University on Friday. The Vikings record dropped to 7-4 on the season, while the Lions improved to 3-1.
TJ North, ranked first in 125 pounds, started Augustana off with a three point advantage with a 3-0 decision over Marcos Rios-Tamayo of Lindenwood.
Hunter Haralson responded in the 133 pound bout with an 11-9 decision over
Morgan Engbrecht. At 141,
Jeremiah Peterson won a major decision of 15-3 over No. 2 Kyle Webb. The Vikings jumped ahead 7-3, while Peterson finished with a 3-0 record on the day, behind two major decisions and one decision.
No. 3 Terrel Wilbourn won a major decision of 15-4 over
Jacob Anderson in the 149 pound bout to tie the match at seven apiece.
Bradyn Neises (157 pounds) pushed the Vikings score to 10-7 with an 8-4 decision over Colton Orlando.
Lindenwood's Kyle Jolas (165 pounds) put the Lions back in the lead with a technical fall of 18-0 over
Shawn Hatlestad. In the 174 pound bout,
Parker Swanson responded winning by a decision of 6-2 over Batchuluun Zulkhuu to put Augustana ahead by one, 13-12.
Lindenwood took the final three bouts starting with the 184 pound division where John McArdle pinned
Logan Henning in 6:23, followed by No. 2 Kenny Breaux winning a 7-4 decision over No. 4
Jayd Docken in the 197 pound weight class.
The Lions Jacob Borgmeyer closed out the heavyweight bout with a 5-2 decision over
Michael Lowman to close out the dual 24-13, in favor of the Lions.
Augustana opens Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference competition traveling to Aberdeen, S.D. on Jan. 14 to take on Northern State at 7 p.m.
