Women's basketball closes-out non-conference schedule against Midland on Tuesday

The Vikings will host Midland at the Elmen Center at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 29

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana University women's basketball (9-2) will play its final game of the calendar year on Tuesday, Dec. 29, hosting Midland University (7-6) in a non-conference game. The Vikings and Warriors will tip-off at 4 p.m. at the Elmen Center.
 
Augustana has won six of its last seven games entering the final non-conference game on the 2015-16 schedule. The Vikings are coming off a dramatic 59-58 win over Wayne State on Dec. 19 at the Sioux Falls Arena. Wayne State took a 58-57 lead after Maggie Schulte converted a 3-point-play but after what appeared to be the game-changing foul on the defensive end, Augustana's Paige Peterson grabbed a rebound and got the putback before the buzzer to lift the Vikings to a one-point win over the Wildcats.
 
Augustana enters Tuesday night's game averaging 75.4 points per game while out-scoring opponents by 12.9 points per game. The Vikings have shot 38.5 percent from the field, including 28 percent from behind the arc. Augustana is averaging 46 rebounds per game and has out-rebounded its opponents by 2.7 boards per game.
 
Nicole Kerkhoff enters Tuesday night's game leading the Vikings in scoring (11.8 ppg) and rebounding (6.9 rpg) while shooting 42.1 percent from the field. Sophie Kenney has handed out a team-high 3.9 assists per game while averaging 11.1 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. Logan O'Farrell has also averaged double-digits in points on the season, picking up 10.5 per game to go along with 6.5 boards per contest.
 
Midland enters Tuesday's game averaging 66.4 points per game and is coming off a 78-75 overtime win over fourth-ranked Briar Cliff. The Warriors snapped a two-game losing streak with the win over Briar Cliff. Joelle Overkamp leads the Warriors in scoring averaging 17.5 points per game while grabbing 6.5 rebounds per game. Midland is shooting 39.3 percent from the field as a team, including 32.9 percent from 3-point range.
 
Following Tuesday's game, Augustana will return to NSIC play, Jan. 2-3, hosting Sioux Falls and Southwest Minnesota State.
