• Augustana advanced eight wrestlers to day two of the regional meet, but only North, Docken, and Lowman earned top-four finishes to advance to nationals.
• North and Docken remained in the individual rankings, both securing top-five spots.
• The Vikings experienced a very fruitful dual season, reaching double-digit wins for the sixth-straight season with a second-place finish in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
Tough region gets the best of Augustana• Augustana advanced six wrestlers to day two of the NCAA Super Region III Championships, but the loaded region put an end to all but three Vikings' season.
• North and Docken posted a 2-0 marks after day one to advance to the semifinal bracket while Lowman and
Aero Amo rebounded from losses to stay alive in the wrestleback.
• North was the lone Viking to remain in the championship bracket with a 3-0 record with two decisions over Garrett Wangsness of Upper Iowa and Tim Prescott of St. Cloud State.
• North would then grab the victory with his second sudden victory win over then-No. 6 Da'Wayne Roberson of Minnesota State.
• Docken rebounded nicely from his narrow loss to national No. 2 Julian Smith of McKendree of a 3-2 decision.
• The Winner, S.D. native pinned Dylan Windfield of Upper Iowa in 5:38, followed by taking third-place with a 3-2 decision over Joe Gomes of Northern State.
• After suffering their first losses, Lowman (285) and Amo (184) were dealt another change to capture a fourth-place finish.
• Lowman's run, which included a victory over Blake Andrews of Ouachita Baptist and a 3-2 decision over Malcolm Allen of Minnesota State to enter the third-place bout.
• Lowman lost to Logan Hopp of Upper Iowa by a 3-2 decision to take fourth-place to still qualify for nationals.
• Amo's bout pitted him against the current fourth-ranked Nick Burghardt in heartbreaking fashion to head to the fifth-place match to lose to No. 2 Blake Sorenson of Upper Iowa by a 5-4 decision.
• As a team, the Vikings finished ninth with 57.0 points, fourth among Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference teams.
Path to the title: Vikings tasked with tough bouts• Augustana's three national qualifiers both have favorable first-round matchups, but will be tested throughout the bracket.
• Junior North begins his title hunt against Schuyler Phillips of Findlay.
• North owns a 23-3 record and undefeated against Division II competition, while Phillips comes in with a 4-2 mark in the 125-pound field.
• Win or lose, North's opponent will be either Colby Christensen (26-7) of Colorado Mesa or Dustin Warner (31-10) of Wheeling Jesuit, neither of which carry a national ranking into the NCAA Championships.
• Carrying the No. 1 ranking all season, North has two ranked opponents on his half of the bracket in No. 7 Kieffer of Indianapolis, No. 8 Garrett Evans of Ouachita Baptist (Ark.)
• Senior Docken also has a favorable first-round bout, but the 197-pounder's competition will stiffen quickly and include some familiar faces.
• Docken will face Tyler Richardson of East Stroudsburg in the first round on Friday.
• With a 27-4 record, Docken is tied with four wrestlers for the fewest losses in the 197-pound field.
• Richardson owns an 18-8 mark in the 16-wrestler bracket.
• Win or lose, Docken will face either No. 1 Samuel Mangum (25-6) of Western State or Brandon O'Neill (26-8) of Ashland.
• With the No. 5 ranking, Docken has three ranked opponents on his half of the bracket in No. 4 Ryan Beltz (29-8) of Maryville (Mo.) and No. 6 Huston Evans (12-0) of Newberry (S.C.)
• Sophomore Lowman will make his first appearance at the NCAA Championships.
• Lowman owns a 29-11 record and will match-up against No. 2 Garrett Gray (32-3) of Tiffin.
• Win or lose, Lowman's opponent will be either Nick Budd (25-11) of Gannon or Peter Anguiano (26-13) of Western State, neither of which carry a national ranking into the NCAA Championships.
