MANKATO, Minn.- Augustana wrestling had its seven-match winning streak snapped with a 19-16 defeat to Minnesota State on Thursday night. The loss dropped the Vikings to a 14-3 record, 3-1 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, while the Mavericks improved to 8-2, 4-0 in the NSIC.   

Minnesota State would win the first three matches of the night to take a 9-0 lead.

Jacob Anderson (149 Pounds) got Augustana on the board with a 16-0 technical fall over Daniel Close. Anderon during the match had three four-point nearfalls and a reversal in the match.

Mitch Rechtzigel (165 Pounds) cut the Mavericks lead to 12-8 with a 4-3 decision over Brad Maas. Rechtzigel was trailing Maas 3-2 in the third period, when Rechtzigel scored a takedown with about a minute left in the match to secure the victory.

Tim Weber (174 Pounds) lost in a tough 3-1 sudden victory over Adam Cooling. Weber scored an escape in the third period to tie the match. Just before the time was to expire in the first overtime Cooling scored to takedown to defeat Weber.

Aero Amo (184 Pounds) extended his match winning streak to 23 with a 16-0 Technical Fall over Scott VanDerLoo. Amo had three four two-point nearfalls and a two-point nearfall during the match.

Michael Lowman (285 pounds) scored an 8-1 decision over Malcolm Allen. Lowman almost had a pin late in the third period until Allen escaped making it a four-point nearfall. 

The Vikings will be back in action tomorrow night as they travel to MSU Moorhead at 7 p.m.
