AUSTIN, Texas – Augustana University sophomore student-athlete Leah Seivert has been named to the 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II Track & Field/Cross Country team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
 
The Division II Academic All-America® program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the classroom and athletically.
 
Seivert is the 41st student-athlete in school history to earn first, second, or third team CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors. She is the second student-athlete from Augustana this season to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors, joining Alex Fink who was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Baseball team.
 
A native of Sibley, Iowa, Seivert is a two-time All-America honoree in cross country and a three-time All-America award winner in track and field for the Vikings. Seivert placed 10th at the NCAA Cross Country Championship as a freshman in 2014 before finishing in 17th this past season. She earned All-NSIC First Team honors for the second straight season in 2015, finishing second at the NSIC Championship.
 
Seivert owns the school record in the outdoor 10,000-meter run with a time of 34:38.77, which she set at the Mt. SAC Relays on April 16, 2015. She currently owns the NSIC Championship meet record in both the 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter run. Seivert was named the NSIC Newcomer of the Year during the outdoor season as a freshman before going on to earn All-America honors in both the 5,000-meter run and the 10,000-meter run.
 
Seivert owns a 4.0 grade-point average as an elementary education major at Augustana.
 
To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
 
Located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Augustana University is a member of NCAA Division II and competes in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
