DES MOINES, Iowa – The Augustana track and field team wrapped up the Jim Duncan Invite in Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday with a pair of wins on the day.
Valerie Moos took first in the 400-meter hurdles and
Kelsey Kaufmann won the high jump.
Moos hit a provisional mark, as well, in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.32. Moos also took fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.25.
In the high jump, Kaufmann recorded a height of 5-05 in route to a victory in the event.
Christine Campbell placed fifth in the high jump with a mark of 5-03.
"We had some really encouraging results from this weekend," head coach
Tracy Hellman said of his team's performance over the weekend. "I thought we competed well, and had some breakthroughs and personal bests from our group. It was also exciting to see Val and Kelsey get the win at the Jim Duncan meet. I'm looking forward to the next meet and seeing our kids continue to improve."
In relays,
Alaina Klapperich,
Carina Hofmeister,
Irene Almarcha and
Cortney Dowling took second in the 4x100 relay with a time of 48.31.
The women's 4x400 relay team also took second with a time of 3:50.96. The relay team consisted of Moos, Almarcha, Hofmeister and Dowling. The men's 4x400 relay team of
Chris Sharpe,
Josh Barrows,
Austin Miller and
Zach Tuschen took third with a time of 3:20.24.
In the women's 200-meters, Hofmeister took fourth with a time of 25.80 and Dowling finished in seventh with a time of 26.28. In women's 400-meters,
Brooke DeVos finished in fifth with a sub-minute time of 59.57. In the men's 800-meters,
Austin Krohnke and Tuschen finished in sixth and eighth, respectively.
In hurdles,
Paul Meloche finished seventh and set a personal best in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.70. In the men's 400-meter hurdles,
Josh Barrows ran a season's best time of 53.50, good enough for fourth in the race.
In field events,
Izzy Van Veldhuizen took fourth in the shot put with a personal best mark of 39-08.75. In the triple jump,
Coley Stoller finished third with a mark of 36-07.5 and
Morgan Rothschadl took fifth with a leap of 33-08.75. Stoller also took sixth in the javelin with a personal best throw of 93-04.
The Vikings return to action of April 21-22 for the Sioux City Relays in Sioux City, Iowa.
