YANKTON, S.D. -- Augustana Vikings men's and women's cross country programs turned in another impressive showing at the Mount Marty Invite this morning.
The women came home as the champions, totaling 49 points for a first place finish. The men completed race with 66 points as a team, finishing in second place.
Avery Selberg paced the Viking women finishing in 6th place overall on Saturday in the 5k. The redshirt junior crossed the finish line in 18:53.05.
Alana Sesow added a 9th place finish at 19:01.95 while
Rachel Rairdon finished 10th at 19:08.19, improving her personal best in the 5k. Raridon's previous top ran a 5k mark, came at Twilight where she completed the course in a time of 19:40.01.
The women's scoring group was rounded out by
Leah Seivert (19:16.04) and Amanda Peterson (19:49.47).
For the third meet in a row the men have turned in a second place finish. The Vikings tallied 66 points on the day.
Paving the way for the men was a 10th place finish from
Henry Klitzke. Klitzke crossed the finish line in 26:06. The redshirt freshman also turned in a personal best time in the 8k, his previous best was at the Jim Drews/Tori Neubauer meet last weekend. He completed that race with a time of 26.27.2.
Following right behind Klitzke in 11th place was
Reed Kurak with a time of 26:16. The 14th place finisher was
Evan Johnson, just seven seconds behind Klitzke, with a time of 26:23.
JJ Orput and
Noah Hanson rounded out the scoring for the men. Orput completed the race in 24th place (26:46), Hanson crossed the line just under a minute after Orput in 30th place with a time of 27:03.
The Vikings now have two weeks to prepare for a trip to Aberdeen, S.D. for the NSIC Championships, Nov. 3.
