BROOKINGS, S.D. - On day two of the SDSU Indoor Classic in Brookings, S.D. the Augustana track and field team had five student-athletes earn provisionally qualifying marks.
Callie DeWitt (60-meters),
Valerie Gildemaster (60-meter hurdles),
Carly Rahn (800-meters),
Josh Barrows (800-meters) and
Anthony Huber (shot put) all hit provisionally qualifying marks on Saturday.
DeWitt continued her blistering weekend by resetting the school record in the 60-meters with a time of 7.63 in the semifinals, which is also a provisionally qualifying mark. DeWitt set personal records in two events yesterday and went on to take third in the 60-meter finals.
Rahn continued her stellar freshman campaign with a provisionally qualifying time and a third place finish in the 800-meters. Rahn raced to a personal best time of 2:12.13 which ranks 19th in Division II.
Staying in the 800-meters, Barrows also set a provisionally qualifying mark in a second place showing. Barrows ran to a personal best time of 1:51.14, which is 15th in Division II.
Zach Tuschen also set a personal best time of 1:54.90 and finished in 17th.
Huber continued to put his stamp on field events this season. Huber finished in seventh in the shot put with a provisionally qualifying and personal best mark of 16.92-meters, which ranks 25th in Division II. Huber also took eighth in the weight throw with a mark of 17.95-meters.
Gildemaster was the final provisional qualifier on Saturday and the lone Viking who didn't set a personal best mark in a provisionally qualifying time. Gildemaster finished in fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.76. On the men's side,
Dylon Van't Hof finished in fourth in the finals with a personal best time of 8.35.
"We performed where we needed to be at this time of the year as we tune up for conference," coach
Greg Binstock said of his team's performance over the weekend. "Lots of PRs this weekend."
In distance races,
Emily Tromp took fifth in the mile with a personal best time of 5:00.61 and
Cassidy Soli took 13th with a time of 5:08.38. In the men's mile,
Austin Miller took 15th with a personal best time of 4:18.41. In the men's 5000-meters, four Vikings set personal best in top-20 finishes including
Skylar DeJong (seventh),
Aaron Runge (ninth),
Sean Heaton (11th) and
Logan Burns (20th). In the women's 5000-meters,
Courtney Hottovy finished in 13th and
Mackenzie Kelly took 18th.
In other field events,
Eli Anderson tied his personal high in the high jump with a mark of 1.90-meters and finished in 14th.
Lily Noble took 14th in the pole vault with a mark of 3.26-meters
Augustana will partake in its final regular season meet next week as they return to Brookings, S.D. for the SDSU Last Change on Friday, Feb. 16.
